Before You Begin

• Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels to catch drips and spills.
• Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
• Choose which stencils, charms, beads, and pipe cleaner decorations you want to use on your bag.
• Keep the gold and silver markers nearby for decorating the bag.

Step 1: Add Metallic Flair

• Peel a stencil from the stencil sheet and place it on the bag where you want your design.
• Shake the marker well before using.
• Hold the stencil firmly in place while you color inside the stencil.
• Carefully remove the stencil when you are finished.
• Reuse the stencil for another design if desired.

Tips

• Test the marker on the bottom or side of the bag first to see how it looks.
• If you make a mistake, wipe it off quickly with a damp tissue.
• Let the bag dry before trying again.

Step 2: Add Charms and Carabiner

Classic Charms

• Stick a glue dot onto the large, flat side of a peg.
• Choose an ice cream, lollipop, pinwheel, or flower charm.
• Press the charm onto the glue dot.
• Snap the small side of the peg into any bag hole.

Spinning Charms

• Stick a glue dot onto the large, flat side of a peg.
• Press a rotating base onto the glue dot.
• Add another glue dot to the top of the rotating base.
• Press your chosen charm onto the glue dot.
• Snap the small side of the peg into a bag hole.
• Your charm will now spin when you move the bag.

Tip: You can turn any classic charm into a spinning charm by using a rotating base.

Carabiner Clip

• Snap the carabiner peg into a bag hole.
• Clip the carabiner onto the peg.
• Use it to hang a keychain, trinket, or another small accessory.

Step 3: Add Pipe Cleaner Decorations

Make a Heart

• Choose 1 pipe cleaner.
• Take one end and roll it tightly into itself to make a spiral.
• Pinch the bottom of the spiral to form the point of the heart.
• Press your fingernail into the top center of the spiral to create the dip in the heart.
• Bend and pinch the sides until the heart looks even.
• Stick a glue dot onto the large, flat side of a peg.
• Press the back of the heart onto the glue dot.
• Snap the peg into a bag hole.

Make a Flower

• Gather 1 green pipe cleaner for the stem and 3 colorful pipe cleaners for the petals.
• Fold all 4 pipe cleaners in half and pinch the bends so they stay folded.
• Hold the colorful pipe cleaners together with the ends pointing upward.
• Twist the green pipe cleaner around the center to hold them in place.
• Point one end of the green pipe cleaner downward to form the stem.
• Take one colorful pipe cleaner and roll the tip into a spiral to make a petal.
• Repeat with the remaining colorful pipe cleaners.
• Adjust the petals so they overlap or bunch together until you like the flower.
• Wrap the other end of the green pipe cleaner around the stem just beneath the petals.
• Shape the wrapped section into a cone so the flower looks neat.
• Stick a glue dot onto the large, flat side of a peg.
• Press the back of the flower onto the glue dot.
• Snap the peg into a bag hole.

Make a Butterfly

• Gather 3 pipe cleaners, using 2 for the wings and 1 for the body.
• Take 2 differently colored pipe cleaners and twist them together at the center so they cross in the middle like an X.
• Pull the ends outward to form 4 wings.
• Twist each end around itself to create 4 spiral wings joined in the middle.
• Pinch the ends if you want pointed wings, or leave them rounded.
• Take the third pipe cleaner and wrap it tightly around the center of the wings to hold everything together.
• Leave both ends sticking out at the top.
• Twist both ends into a V shape.
• Curl the tips into small spirals to create the antennae.
• Stick a glue dot onto the large, flat side of a peg.
• Press the butterfly's body onto the glue dot.
• Snap the small side of the peg into a bag hole.

Step 4: Make a Bead String

• Cut a piece of the bead string.
• Tie one end of the string around a peg before adding beads.
• Leave some string hanging off the end.
• Thread alphabet beads and colorful beads onto the string in any order you like.
• Spell your name, a favorite word, or create a colorful pattern.
• Tie the other end of the string around another peg.
• Snap the pegs into your bag to attach your bead string.

Step 5: Show Off Your Style

• Add any final charms, pipe cleaner decorations, beads, or metallic designs you want.
• Make sure all pegs and decorations are securely attached.
• Your DIY Beach Bag is ready to carry and show off.
