Before You Begin

• Set up your work area first. Lay down paper towels to catch drips and spills.
• Lay out everything in the kit so it's all within reach before you begin.
• Choose a clean, flat surface where you have plenty of room to decorate and write.
• Look through the journal prompts and inspiring stories before you start.
• Keep the decorative papers, stickers, markers, pens, and other accessories nearby so you can easily choose what you want to use.

Step 1: Explore Your Journal

• Open the journal and look through the prompts and stories about influential women.
• Choose a page or prompt that inspires you.
• Use the prompts to help you write about your thoughts, ideas, dreams, and experiences.
• Scan the QR codes throughout the journal to access Rebel Girls podcasts and soundscapes if you would like extra inspiration.

Step 2: Write, Draw, and Doodle

• Choose from the 8 gel pens to write, doodle, or create colorful designs.
• Use the multicolor pencil crayon for a blended rainbow effect.
• To change the color of the swap point pencil crayon, pull the nib from the bottom and push it into the top.
• Glide the roller marker across the page to create wavy lines, borders, or dividers.
• Use the highlighter to emphasize important thoughts or add decorative details.
• Draw with one end of the color-changing marker, then trace over it with the other end to create a color-changing effect.

Step 3: Decorate Your Pages

• Choose stickers from the 3 sticker sheets and place them anywhere in your journal.
• Use the frame stickers to highlight special thoughts, drawings, or sections of a page.
• Add washi tape around borders, across sections, or as decorative patterns.
• Use the decorative-edge scissors with the patterned paper sheets to create unique borders and shapes.
• Attach your decorative paper pieces to the journal with the glue stick.
• Use the ruler to create straight lines, measure decorations, or draw geometric shapes.

Step 4: Add Foil Designs

• Choose one of the foil sheets.
• Place it on your journal page with the shiny side facing up.
• Hold the foil sheet firmly in place.
• Use the included stylus to draw or write over the foil.
• Press firmly so the foil transfers onto the paper.
• Experiment with the pointed and flat edges of the stylus to create different effects.

Step 5: Add Glow-in-the-Dark Details

• Use the glow-in-the-dark glitter glue to add lines, shapes, designs, or other decorations.
• Apply it wherever you want glowing details on your journal pages.
• Let the glitter glue dry completely before closing the journal.

Step 6: Create Extra Shapes and Keepsakes

• Use the star hole punch to make star-shaped cutouts.
• Add the stars to your journal pages as decorations.
• Use the lightning bolt paperclips to hold special notes, keepsakes, or memorable pictures inside your journal.
• Use the sticky notepads to write reminders, ideas, or important notes and add them to your pages.

Step 7: Add a Bookmark

• Choose one of the included bookmarks.
• Add the tassel bookmark topper or pompom bookmark topper if desired.
• Place the bookmark on the page where you want to continue journaling later.

Step 8: Make It Your Own

• Continue adding writing, drawings, stickers, decorative paper, foil, washi tape, and other details.
• Use the different supplies together to create pages that reflect your own ideas and style.
• Keep using the journal to record your dreams, thoughts, memories, and stories.
